First State Baptist Church of Wilmington, Delaware was started under the authority of Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware on April 2nd, 2017. Pastor Sam Knickerbocker was ordained by Capitol Baptist Church and sent out to start and pastor this new local church. Throughout 2016, members of Capitol Baptist Church were regularly sent to evangelize the Wilmington area with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with the purpose of establishing an Independent Baptist Church. The Lord provided a meeting location for the assembling of God's people. Sunday afternoon meetings began in the fall of 2016 with those who had been reached. A number of Independent Baptist churches assisted in the distribution of 20,000 John & Romans in the month of March, 2017. First State Baptist Church was launched with Get-Acquainted meetings from Sunday, March 26th through Thursday, March 30th, 2017. First State Baptist Church was officially birthed on Sunday, April 2nd, 2017 with 11 charter members who had been born-again and Scripturally baptized by immersion.

First State Baptist Church held its fifth year anniversary meeting on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022.
Since the start of First State Baptist Church souls have been saved, baptized, and added to the church. Believers have been grounded in the Word of God through personal discipleship, Sunday School, and regular weekly church meetings. First State Baptist Church has continued to expand its evangelism ministry. The current evangelism ministries include: door-to-door evangelism, street evangelism, new move-in evangelism, John & Romans distribution, and Gospel literature distribution. First State Baptist Church exists to bring glory to God. May the Lord continue to be exalted through His local church in Wilmington, Delaware. |
